Installing CueLine® READER

A simple text version of these installation instructions is provided in the file INSTALL.txt on the CD.

Installing on Windows

CueLine® READER, installs to your hard drive to run.

You must be an administrative user to install CueLine® READER on the computer's hard drive. This means the user has been granted administrator privileges. Ask your system administrator for assistance if in doubt about which user you should log onto your computer as in order to install CueLine® READER.

Insert the CueLine® READER CD to start the install. There is a long delay while a Java runtime environment is started from the CD.

You are prompted to confirm the installation and accept the end user license agreement. After confirming the installation and accepting the end user license agreement, files are copied from the CueLine® READER CD to your hard drive. It can take several minutes to copy files from the CD. After installing to your hard drive you are prompted to restart CueLine® READER from the new hard drive installation.

You must run CueLine® READER once as an admininistrative user to initialize the data directories with appropriate permissions. Afterwards you can log onto your computer as a normal, i.e. non-administrative, user and access your preferences and bookmarks.

  • as a user with administrator rights
  • click on the Start button
  • click on the Computer button
  • double click on Local Disk (C:)
  • click once in the top text entry slot
  • C:\ appears
  • click to the right of C:\
  • append Users\Public\Desktop
  • C:\Users\Public\Desktop should now be in this text entry slot
  • press Enter on the keyboard
  • drag and drop the CueLine® READER shortcut from your Desktop onto this explorer window for C:\Users\Public\Desktop
  • a UAC dialog pops up noting the need for administrator permission to continue
  • click on the Continue button
  • a UAC dialog pops up asking permission to write to the C:\Users\Public\Desktop directory
  • click on the Continue button
  • close the file explorer window

You will need to manually delete the shortcut if you uninstall CueLine® READER.
