Installing CueLine® EDA simple text version of these installation instructions is provided in the file INSTALL.txt on the CD.
Installing on WindowsCueLine® ED installs to your hard drive to run. You must be an administrative user to install CueLine® ED on the computer's hard drive. This means the user has been granted administrator privileges. Ask your system administrator for assistance if in doubt about which user you should log onto your computer as in order to install CueLine® ED. Insert the CueLine® ED CD to start the install. There is a long delay while a Java runtime environment is started from the CD. You are prompted to confirm the installation and accept the end user license agreement. After confirming the installation and accepting the end user license agreement, files are copied from the CueLine® ED CD to your hard drive. It can take several minutes to copy files from the CD. After installing to your hard drive you are prompted to restart CueLine® ED from the new hard drive installation. The Client Server Version needs to be pointed to the network server where user preferences and a log file are kept. This server directory must be accessible to the CueLine® ED client systems and users. The first time CueLine® ED's Client Server Version runs from the hard drive you are prompted to browse to and select the network server's directory. After selecting the network server's directory you are prompted to restart CueLine® ED for it to reinitialize with this configuration. You must run CueLine® ED once as an admininistrative user to initialize the local, and optionally the remote, data directories with appropriate permissions. Afterwards you can log onto your computer as a normal, i.e. non-administrative, user and access your students' preferences and bookmarks. Installation directories and files summary:

You will need to manually delete the shortcut if you uninstall CueLine® ED. Client Server Version Installation NotesIf you need to change the remote server data directory delete the file named clientserver.server from the local data directory. The next time CueLine ED starts it will notice the missing file and reprompt you for the remote server data directory. Depending on your network configuration, a network administrator may need to manually grant read/write access to the remote server data directories.
